    Wednesday, January 04, 2012

Glendora, CA (Football) -- Citrus College sophomore Blake Loncar has signed on with Indiana State University to continue his playing career. The two year starter will leave Citrus as one of its most prolific passing quarterbacks, and will move on to a Sycamore squad that went 6-5 last season.

“When I went out on my visit, I was impressed by the school and area,” Loncar said. “After I sat down with the coaches, they made me feel comfortable about the program and direction where it’s headed.”

In 2011, Loncar played in eight games passing for 2,241 yards and 21 touchdowns. He leave’s Citrus with his imprint over the program record books. He currently holds the records for attempts, completions, yards, and touchdowns in a game as well as the season and career mark for touchdowns. He’ll also finish second in the Citrus record books for completions in a season and career as well as yards in a season and career.

“Citrus allowed me a chance to get a lot of my general education classes out of the way, and put together the film that I didn’t get out of high school,” Loncar said. “Coach [Ben] Noonan and Coach [Ron] Ponciano did a lot as far as getting my name out there. They were helpful in everything it took to get the recruitment going.”

“Over the last two years, Blake has helped play a big role in turning this program around. His hard work in and out of the classroom has made all of this possible,” said Citrus College Head Football Coach Ron Ponciano. “We wish Blake the best of luck, and know he will continue to make the Citrus College Football program proud.”
