Glendora, CA (Football) -- With the 2009 season in the rearview mirror and the 2010 season still off the in the distance, the Citrus College football program has been hard at work, and that work is beginning to pay off. A pair of offensive line prospects that turned heads in 2009 are picking up steam in the recruiting wars and have offers rolling in from across the country.
Jason Peacock, who earned 2nd team All-Central Conference honors as a freshman in 09, and Addison Bachman have both been attracting a large amount of attention from coaches nationwide, and that attention is slowly but surely turning into offers for the duo that will anchor what looks to be one of the best lines in program history in 2010.
The pair have both been offered scholarships by University of Houston, while Peacock also added an offer from the University of Arizona.
“They both have exceptional size and athleticism for offensive lineman,” said Citrus College Offensive Coordinator Ben Noonan. “The number one attraction though is that they are both academically on track to leave at mid-year. We are excited about their early offers and feel more will pour in as the summer goes on.”
In addition, according to Head Citrus College Football Coach Ron Ponciano, this is the first time in recent program memory where an offensive lineman from the program has been early offered, let alone two.
“In this process, I’m going to be looking for the school with the best offer, and the program that is going to give me the opportunity to play right away and preferably play in a bowl game,” Bachman said. “Coming from another community college program, Citrus has been 100% different and better. Discipline is important, and they really put us on the right track academically so we can get out. The coaches put themselves out there for us, and really do a good job of getting us better and promoting us.”
“I’m really going to be looking for a program that is loyal to me throughout the recruiting process. When I sign, it’s going to have to be with a school that both my parents and I can sit down with and make sure that it will be a good fit for me and my future,” Peacock said. “The coaches at Citrus are great. They’ve got a lot of connections and have put us in a position to make a name for ourselves. They work us hard and do a good job of spreading the word about us.”
The pair will be anchoring the line for the Fighting Owls for the upcoming 2010 season. Citrus kicks of their 2010 campaign at home on Saturday September 4th at 1:00 PM versus West LA in the Citrus College Stadium.
