    Owls Earn #1 Seed

    Monday, February 20, 2012

Glendora, CA (Men'a Basketball) -- As expected the Citrus College Men’s Basketball team, ranked #1 in the State and Southern California for much of the season, has earned the #1 seed for the California Community College Southern California Playoffs. It’s the second time that the Owls have earned the #1 seed since the 2007-2008 season and the fourth straight year, the Owls garnered a top four seed.

The Owls (25-1) will kick off their playoff journey this Saturday when they host the winner of Wednesday night’s game between #16 Allan Hancock and #17 Imperial Valley College. Hancock (20-9) was the third place team out of the Western State Conference North Division, while Imperial Valley (19-8) finished second in the Pacific Coast Conference. Citrus has not played either team this season.

The last time Citrus earned the #1 seed in the playoffs, the Owls rolled all the way to the State Championship. That was back during the 2007-2008 season, when Citrus also finished the regular season with just one loss and an unblemished conference record.

Tip-off for Saturday’s game will be at 7:00 PM in the Owls’ Nest. General admission is $8, while students, faculty and staff with ID, children, and seniors will be $5.
