    Friday, February 03, 2012

Glendora, CA (Men’s Basketball) -- Citrus College sophomore James Walker earned his second Western State Conference South Division Player of the Week award earlier this week. It’s the second straight week that Walker was named the player of the week.

Walker picked up the award thanks to his performances against Santa Monica and Glendale last week. Against Santa Monica, Walker dropped a team high 24 points, nine of which came in the overtime period. Walker single handedly outscored the Corsairs 9-8 in overtime.

Against Glendale, Walker kept it going with 23 points and five rebounds. In that game, Walker went 11 of 12 from the charity stripe in helping lead the Owls to a 14 point victory. On the year, Walker leads the Owls in scoring on the season, averaging 19 points per game on 44.2% shooting from the floor, 34.4% shooting from three, and 83% shooting from the free-throw line.

Walker and the rest of the State #2 and SoCal #1 ranked Owls will be back at home tomorrow evening when they take on LA Valley College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
