Glendora, CA (Basketball) -- The Citrus College Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will be hosting their 2nd Annual Cancer Awareness Night tomorrow night against LA Valley College. The Owls are participating along with 45 others schools in the California Community College Athletic Association.
“This is just one small way that our department and community can give back,” said Citrus College Dean of Kinesiology and Athletics Jody Wise. “We are proud to be participating in this event for the second consecutive year.”
The Citrus Basketball programs will be taking donations at the door of their Western State Conference South contests with LA Valley College on Saturday February 4th. The women tip-off at 5:00 PM, while the men’s tip is set for 7:00 PM. The Kinesiology and Athletic Department will also be accepting donations in their offices until Wednesday February 8th.
The proceeds collected will be sent to the CCCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. The money will then be presented to the American Cancer Society at the CCCAA State Championships at Cosumnes River College from March 9-11th. Last year the schools raised over $21,000.
