San Diego, CA (Softball) -- The Citrus College Softball team had a strong showing this weekend at the San Diego City Tournament. The Owls went 3-1 advancing to the semi-final game of the winner’s bracket before falling in a close contest with State #14 Saddleback.
Citrus opened things up on Friday afternoon with a pair of mercy rule wins over Imperial Valley and Mt. San Jacinto. Citrus started the weekend off with a 12-4 win over Imperial Valley and then came back later that day with a 25-4 win over Mt. San Jacinto. Citrus handed the Comets their first loss of the year with a 3-1 victory. In the next game, Citrus got #14 Saddleback. The Owls ran out of gas against the Gauchos falling 6-3.
With the three wins and the loss, Citrus’ record moves to 6-3 on the year. The Owls will be back out on the field and on the road on Tuesday when they travel to Mt. San Jacinto to take on the Eagles again and San Diego City College in a triangular. Citrus kicks off their day at 2:00 PM, against Mt. San Jacinto.
