Glendora, CA (Women’s Basketball) -- Citrus College sophomore Brianna Barfield was named this week’s Western State Conference South Player of the Week late Tuesday night. It’s the first player of the week nod for a women’s basketball player this year.
Barfield picked up the award after recording back to back double-doubles last week in a win at home against Bakersfield and in a road loss at West LA. Against Bakersfield Barfield scored 18 points and recorded 12 boards, and then put up 13 and 12 at West LA on Saturday. Last night Barfield had 14 and six in a home victory for the Owls against Santa Monica College.
Barfield and the rest of the Owls will be back out on the floor on Saturday when they start the second half of Western State Conference play. Citrus takes on Glendale with tip-off set for 5:00 PM in the Owls’ Nest.
