Women’s Season Ends with Loss at Canyons

    Saturday, February 20, 2010

Santa Clarita, CA (Women’s Basketball) -- The 2009-2010 season came to a close on Saturday night for the Citrus College Women’s Basketball. Unfortunately a strong season ended on a bit of a sour note as the Lady Owls fell to WSC South Champion Canyons 78-61.

The Cougars put Citrus down early leading 42-28 at the break. Citrus would keep pace with Canyons in the second half, but the first half deficit was too much to overcome as they lost by 17. In the loss, Citrus was lead by Freshman Briana Barfield who scored a team high 16 points, as she went an impressive 12 of 14 from the free-throw line, while Sophomore Jasmin Thomas added a season high 15.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 15-13 overall and 7-5 in WSC South play, while Canyons improved 22-4 overall and 12-0 in conference games. Saturday’s game is likely the end of the season for Citrus as the Lady Owls finished third in the WSC South.
