COURSE DESCRIPTION
An Introduction to Art provides students with an introduction to the history of the visual arts from the 14th through 18th centuries in Western Europe. We will explore the various elements and forms of art and develop an understanding of the visual arts through studying organization, structure, terminology and the relationship of the arts to society.

METHOD OF PRESENTATION
Blackboard: Students registered in the Art 103, online class, can access Blackboard by going to http://citruscollege.blackboard.com. Click on Login. Through Blackboard you will be presented with assignments, including reading and discussion assignments as well as exploration assignments. You will also receive information provided by me for each section, including lecture notes, question for thought and any additional information deemed helpful. You will be able to turn in your assignments, participate in discussions, ask questions and access your grades all through Blackboard.
METHOD OF EVALUTION
Testing: There will be four multiple choice test. Each test will be 50 questions. Tests will be taken online.
Museum Paper: Paper will be three to six pages in length. The paper is based on your observation of an artwork of your choice from a local museum. You will need to physically visit a museum (not online for this assignment but by taking your body through the doors of an actual museum and seeing a piece of artwork in person). Papers will be typed, double spaced with 1" margins, fonts no larger than 12 point. Any papers not meeting these requirements will not be read, and you will receive an "F" grade for the assignment. (25% of final grade).
Participation: I will post questions for discussion as we move through the assigned reading material in the text. Not only the quantity but more importantly the quality of your participation in the online discussion will be factored into your final grade. (25% of final grade).
Examination and Observation Paper Format: Examination and Paper requirements will be posted on Blackboard under the Assignment section and Under Announcements. Please use the Assignment link to submit all assignments. The Assignment link will record receipt of your assignment.

Browse through additional material in the chapter provided on the disc which came with the purchase of your textbook.

Read the material posted by your instructor for the section.

Discussion Board: Post your questions and comments on the Discussion Board for class review.
Email Accounts
You will need to use your Official Citrus College issued email account. Your email is established when you are registered for classes. You must have access to your email address prior to starting the class.
- Your WingSpan ID becomes your Blackboard Username
- Your WingSpan PIN (Personal Identification Number) becomes your Blackboard password
- To change your PIN/password requires, change it in WingSpan
- Data will be transferred from WingSpan to Blackboard on a regular basis
Once you get to the Blackboard welcome page, click on the Art History and Appreciation - Renaissance to Rococo course link on the right, and you will go to the course site. Familiarize yourself with the course site and if you have any questions please email your instructor with your concerns. Get your textbook and get started with your initial assignments. A major key to your success in this course will be keeping up with both the reading and the other assignments.
