Apply on-line at www.FAFSA.gov
We strongly advise students to apply online over the paper FAFSA application because of the following benefits:
- Application is processed faster.
- We receive the FAFSA application electronically with in 2-3 weeks, if Citrus College School Code is added 001166.
- Errors are more likely to be identified before submission of the application.
- It allows signature(s) to be submitted electronically if PIN # is provided.
- Availability of online help
Documents Needed before Applying for FAFSA
To apply for financial aid, you will need the following financial information.
- Your Social Security Number (can be found on Social Security card)
- Your driver's license (if any)
- Your (and your spouse's, if you are married) W-2 Forms and other records of money earned
- Your (and your spouse's, if you are married) Federal Income Tax Return and all schedules - IRS Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, foreign tax return, or tax return for Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia or Palau
- Your parents' Federal Income Tax Return and all schedules (if you are a dependent student)
- Your untaxed income records - Social Security, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, welfare, or veterans benefits records
- Your most recent bank statements
- Your most recent business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond, and other investment records
- Your alien registration number or permanent residence card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
- To organize your information, print and complete a FAFSA on the Web Worksheet before you begin entering your information online.
How to Apply
- Enter Website: www.fafsa.gov
- Click on "fill out a fafsa"
- Select Appropriate School Year
- When asked if "you want to sign your application by using your PIN#," If you have a PIN select "YES" if not select "NO," You can still proceed with the online application without the PIN #. Note* make sure to print out the signature page.
- Enter your personal information and tax information,
- Enter Citrus College Federal School Code: 001166
- If you don't have a PIN#, Print out signature page and mail out to the address below the bar code.
- Print out all other information for your records, Select "View application for printout"
- Print out Confirmation page
After Filling out Application
- If you do not use a PIN#, Mail out the signature page
- If you are in need of an immediate Fee-Waiver "BOGW," bring your confirmation page, and copy of students records print out.
- Wait 3-6 weeks for a document tracking letter, or check with the financial aid office 2-3 weeks, to just only check status.
- If selected for verification, submit all required forms immediately. If there is no verification required, an award letter will be sent to the address provided on the FAFSA Application.
*It is your responsibility to check back with the financial aid office to verify that all of the information needed has been submitted. There is a possibility that you may need to submit additional forms.
