EMPOWERING FORMER FOSTER YOUTH THROUGH HIGHER EDUCATION RENAISSANCE SCHOLARS is a comprehensive support service program that enables former foster youth to attend one of the nation's finest universities and successfully complete a bachelor's degree. This innovative program draws on Cal Poly Pomona's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and the Casey Family Program's Its My Life framework for transitioning foster youth.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
• Demonstrate high motivation and academic potential to succeed in college
• Must be a current or former foster youth between the ages of 17-24 Qualify for admission to Cal State Polytechnic University, Pomona as a freshman or transfer student
• Qualify for EOP (Educational Opportunity Program)
• Must qualify as an independent student under federal financial aid guidelines
Follow these easy steps:
STEP 1 - Complete the California State University undergraduate application for admission no later than November 30, 2011. The application is available at www.csumentor.edu
*Please note that Cal Poly Pomona's Renaissance Scholars program accepts admission applications from prospective students for the Fall Quarter only.
STEP 2 - Download a Renaissance Scholars Application Fall 2012 or call our Educational Counselor Amber Stroman at (909) 869-4306 to request a copy.
Complete and submit the following forms to the Renaissance Scholars office:
• Form 1 - General Information
• Form 2 - Personal Statement
• Form 3 - School Report
• Form 4 - Teacher Recommendation
• Form 5 - Personal Recommendation
• Copy of ward of the court documentation (minute orders)
• Copy of high school/community college transcript
STEP 3 - Entering students must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or renewal FAFSA by the March 2 priority deadline.

STEP 4 - Current or emancipated foster youth who meet the university's admission standards and Renaissance Scholars requirements will be invited to Cal Poly Pomona for a personal interview between February and March.
