Citation Appeals

In accordance with California Vehicle Code section 40215, any person who feels a citation was issued in error may contest the parking citation by filing a notice of appeal with the Department of Campus Safety at Citrus College. All persons receiving a citation have the right to appeal within twenty-one (21) calendar days from the issuance of a notice of parking citation or fourteen (14) calendar days from the mailing of a notice of delinquent parking violation (CVC 40215).

To file an appeal, complete the form, sign the statements, and return to the Department of Campus Safety, located near the main entrance of campus (Foothill Boulevard and Citrus Avenue). The results of the appeal will be mailed to you; usually within ten (10) working days. Please review the listing of situations which are not accepted as valid circumstances for parking violations to be dismissed. Appeals submitted based solely upon these reasons will not be considered.

You may fill out a citation appeal online OR you may download a hardcopy Citation Appeal Form, print, fill out and submit Appeals which are submitted past the legally allowed twenty-one (21) calendar days after the violation date will not be considered.

Ignoring a citation will result in immediate legal action in the form of the citation being forwarded to a collections agency, subsequently incurring additional penalty fees. Furthermore, per California law, disregarding the citation will result in a “hold” being placed on the vehicle registration with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Vehicle registration will be contingent upon compliance.
